On the week of the 16th April we flew out to Cyprus Greece to Film the Destination Wedding of Bernice & John. Bernice & John live in Bahrain so we spent a lot of the preparations on skype calls talking about the Wedding & making plans for us and for the day itself to make sure everything ran smoothly. We were there for 4 days which allowed me time to get to know them further and be around the two families by the end we actually felt apart of the Wedding which always helps with creating a film. Bernice & John were so lovely and it was a pleasure creating their Destination Wedding Video for them in such an idyllic set as Cyprus. Amongst the orange trees of the natural healing spa resort 45km from Paphos & in a little church situated onsite is where they said their vows to each other. It takes some journey to drive up into the mountains of this beautiful island a very scenic route across the terrain. You go passed many locations on the way including the now renowned history spot of the Baths of the Aphrodite http://www.visitcyprus.com/index.php/en/discovercyprus/rural/sites-monuments/item/703-baths-of-aphrodite I learnt in advance of travelling that Aphrodite was a great Greek Goddess who it claimed use to come in from the Ocean and bath in the warm pool situated amongst the rocks and trees. Some story. For our pre Wedding shoot it seemed like the perfect place to go to. We also stopped at the Port of Poli where we watched the most amazing sunrise. This Destination Wedding was already turning into something special.
Onsite of the Ayii Anargyri Natural Healing Spa & Resort sits this small ancient chapel. Access is limited but outside is a beautiful orange tree which drapes over the entrance here is where Bernice & John would get married. It was honour Film the Wedding you could see some of the nerves kicking in but maybe that was the heat. It was warm up in the mountains I think the heat was slightly intensified by John's three piece suit. I got the opportunity to whisk them down to the Village of Poli this time I wanted to embrace the culture of the island and this was perfect in doing so. The old buildings met with some new architecture was simplistic but beautiful we also got a nice cheer whilst we made our way through.
The reception was also at the Ayii Anargyri Natural Healing Spa & Resort just located on the pool edge. They certainly didn't hold back in the celebrations of this amazing day. We were met with the very funny greek dancers who had everyone in a haze of how they did some of the tricks and the food was beautifully laid out for the couple.
I remember packing my cameras into my case at the end of the day and saying my goodbyes. The love shown was so very special and as I walked off to get some much needed sleep I knew I had filmed a very special Wedding.
